About Me
I started piano lessons when I was four years old. I continued lessons for fourteen years and studied with four different teachers. Throughout junior high and high school, I had many opportunities to accompany school and church choirs, and perform at various school, community, and church events.
I taught piano lessons throughout high school and again after I was married. After graduating from Utah State University with a degree in Elementary Education, I taught both 3rd and 5th grades. When we started our family, I took time off from teaching to be home with my kids. I’m so excited to be teaching again!
About My Teaching
My goal is to offer students both a structured and engaging lesson experience. Students will be learning the important basics of playing the piano: rhythm, reading, and proper technique. Additionally, they will be developing aural, improvisation, composition skills, and practice strategies. All of this will be taught on and off the bench using multifaceted tools and techniques such as games, manipulatives, listening tracks, rhythm instruments, singing, movement, ensemble work, studio challenges, and more!
I believe that a good teacher never stops learning. I am currently enrolled in a music teaching mentorship program and am preparing to become certified through the Music Teachers National Association.

COMING
SOON!
Lessons are held at my in-home studio recently relocated to Smithfield, UT. I have two pianos--a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano and beautiful new Baldwin professional upright. I'm continually adding new resources to the studio including instruments for rhythm work, manipulatives and games for hands-on learning, a challenge board for motivation, and a lending library full of games and books that students can check-out. There will be multiple group workshops scheduled throughout the year where students have the chance to practice performing, review concepts, and learn new things in a fun and engaging group setting. One formal recital will be held at the end of the school year.
